Precious
Metal Clay
The
Medieval Alchemist dreamed of turning clay into silver and gold
while today's artists accomplish the task daily. The new
compounds are now available for you with instruction by senior
instructor Leslie Tieke. An artist is able to mould this special compound of silver, gold or platinum, fire it, and
as a result create beautiful jewelry, sculpture, and art.
Precious
Metal Clay Process
The
marriage of Pottery and Silversmithing constitutes the basis of the
Precious Metal Clay process. A variety of techniques becomes available
to the artist including rolling, coiling, carving, molding, extruding,
etching, and painting. Bead making becomes a creatively easy task.
Precious Metal Clay holds the surface pattern of organic objects like
leaves and twigs, and when fired, the organic materials burn away
leaving detailed imprint in silver and gold. The artist of today
is released from time consuming traditional metalsmithing techniques.
Polymer clay artists as well as those
working with enameling find Precious Metal clay easily incorporated into
their creative process.
